The Gas Distribution Networks are seeking innovative methods to support managing the risks associated with ageing infrastructure, the HSE identifies that the gas distribution networks are ageing: much of it has already reached the end of its original design life.
The networks are seeking solutions that allow a better understanding of the true condition to manage the risks linked to ageing assets efficiently. This means that they can then prioritise and target measures to reduce the risks. In some cases, this might mean replacing pipes and fittings where the likelihood of failure is highest and/or the potential consequences of failure most severe thereby ultimately improving safety and reliability.
Innovative techniques to reliably predict asset location and condition so that operatives have accurate information about the assets prior to carrying out any activtity on the network. The solution will provide the operative with the required methods to update asset information to the main databases so that this method is a continuous method for monitoring assets and assessing their condition.
