Tower Foundation Monitoring

One of the EIC’s distribution network operator (DNO) industry partners is actively looking for more efficient and less intrusive methods of examining the foundations of its electricity towers.

For additional information about this opportunity click here: EIC Call for Innovation ‘Tower Foundation Monitoring’

Each year, the foundations of approximately 100 – 200 electricity towers across the DNO’s territory are assessed as part of general maintenance and upgrade works.

The current approach for carrying out these assessments involves excavating around the foundations, typically using a mini-digger so that they can be visually inspected. With four legs per tower to inspect, this essential work can cost £6k – £12k per pylon and has an impact on the local environment.

Are you an innovative firm that can help our DNO to identify more efficient ways of monitoring the foundations of the towers? If so, register your interest by calling us on 0151 348 8040 and quoting the reference number DNO-2015-06 or by completing the form below.

The deadline for registering initial interest in this call is Friday 12th February 2016 at 5pm.
