This Call for Innovation seeks potential solutions to a problem area identified by the electricity distribution network operators (DNOs) with a focus on methods used to manage and operate wayleaves and easements with their customers.
In principle, wayleave and easement agreements are useful but, in some cases, they can lead to disputes between landowners and/or tenants and utility operators.
This call is intended to develop better business management processes in relation to these types of arrangements. The DNOs are interested in developments in the use of mobile geographic information system (GIS) technology that could provide customised information on environmental regulations and landholder/stakeholder commitments for specific geographical areas and different seasons of the year.
There is an opportunity to consider the benefits of integrating various technological systems currently in use within utility companies to enhance and improve ongoing communications between landowners, stakeholders and the owners and operators of utility businesses.
