The latest in a series of calls for innovation seeks potential solutions to a problem area identified by the electricity distribution networks operators (DNOs) focusing on solutions that could help provide emergency power for street lighting columns.
This call seeks to identify a cost-effective solution that would be able to provide power to a LED street lighting column in the event of a low voltage cable fault. We are looking for a solution that is easily retrofittable, is contained within the existing lighting column and can supply enough power to the LED light to ensure that cable repairs can be completed in a planned and coordinated manner.
The network operators are open to ideas and approaches to solve this challenge. Potential solutions can range from one single idea to several innovations that complement each other, and may use a solar panel.
