One of our electricity distribution network partners is looking for alternative solutions to using pilot cables. Can you help?
For additional information about this opportunity click here: EIC Call for Innovation ‘Pilot Cable Alternative’
Typically laid underground alongside power distribution and/or transmission cables, pilot cables are multi-core telecoms lines.
Due to their location, pilot cables have always been susceptible to accidental damage through excavation or construction works. However many of the cables were first installed before 1950 meaning that degradation through ageing or joint failure is now a serious concern.
Our industry partner is looking for more cost effective solutions for replacing old or damaged pilot cables.
