National Grid Gas Transmission NIC Call for Proposals

National Grid Gas Transmission formally invites third parties to submit innovative proposals for a 2018 gas transmission Network Innovation Competition (NIC) programme.

They are looking for potential partners to help find their next flagship low carbon innovation project and are asking innovators across the industry to share their ideas on how they can operate and maintain the gas transmission network so that it is faster, cheaper, greener and more flexible than ever before.

National Grid Gas Transmission is calling for proposals to develop substantial innovations for the UK’s gas transmission network on the following themes:

  • The Efficiency Challenge
  • Asset management
  • Future of National Transmission System (NTS)
  • Safety and environmental impact

After an internal review, National Grid Gas Transmission will choose the best idea or ideas to take forward for the 2018 NIC process.  The competition is operated by the regulator, Ofgem, and it makes up to £20 million of funding available to inspire large-scale and industry innovations across the gas industry.

Successful projects are awarded the funding they need to research, develop and demonstrate the smartest new ideas and technologies of tomorrow.
