HV feeder monitoring to pre-empt faults

The latest in a series of calls for innovation seeks potential solutions to a problem area identified by one of the electricity distribution network operators (DNOs).  The problem is focussed on the monitoring of current and voltage characteristics on high voltage (HV) feeders in real-time and the filtering and analysis of waveforms to pre-empt faults.

This call seeks to identify a cost-effective solution that requires a minimal number of monitoring device(s) to be installed at substations to monitor the network characteristics, on one or more HV feeder(s) in, or near to, real-time.  In addition to this, the solution will also be required to provide notifications of developing issues as well as indications of their location.

More information about this opportunity can be found here.

The network operators are completely open to ideas and approaches to solve this challenge.  Potential solutions can range from one single idea to several innovations that complement each other.

To register initial interest and request an expression of interest form please call the Energy Innovation Centre on 0151 348 8040 and quote the reference number Call DNO-17-01.

Specific EOI forms are created for each individual all for innovation and the matching form will be required to progress any submissions.

The closing date for registering initial interest is Wednesday 26 July 2017.  Please note office open hours are between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
