Can you help one of our gas distribution network (GDN) partners to measure the volume of its excavations?
GDNs undertake approximately 300,000 excavations each year which, once the work is complete, need to be refilled so that the road or footpath is fit for public use.

Every excavation is different but the way they are measured is usually the same with a measuring tape or stick. This technique can give inaccurate results leading to a surplus of infill materials being ordered and creating further waste for landfill.
Our GDN partner is looking for a new tool or app that can more accurately measure the volume of the holes so that they can be filled quicker and the amount of material sent to landfill is reduced.
If you think you have the skill sets or experience to contribute to this opportunity, register your interest by calling us on 0151 348 8040 and quoting the reference number GDN-16-02 or by completing the form below. The deadline for registering initial interest in this call is Wednesday 10th August 2016.
This is the latest in a series of calls for innovation, managed by the EIC, which offers innovators the opportunity to register interest and propose potential solutions to targeted energy distribution sector problems.
