The latest in a series of Calls for Innovation seeks potential solutions to a problem area identified by an operational gas storage facility. The operational gas facility designs, builds and operates underground natural gas storage, maintaining UK gas supplies and enhancing the security of the UK market.
This call focuses on removing the requirement for the facility to construct temporary scaffolding to apply recognised non-destructive testing techniques during the routine Pressure System Safety Requirements (PSSR) inspection of pipework and process equipment at height.
The operational gas facility is keen to be made aware of innovative products, alternative methods or potential development projects that could remove the requirement for temporary scaffolding during this activity. The outcome of utilising any new method or technology is to reduce risk exposure to operatives, reduce the time necessary to carry out inspections, reduce overall cost and improve the overall aesthetic of the facility.
